Class content

The 2023 Children's Art School will be based on the three stages of "The Rhythm of Education"—romance, precision, and generalization—embodied in the educational philosophy of British philosopher Whitehead (AN). This approach allows learners to harmonize freedom and discipline, achieve intellectual growth and utilization through creative repetition, and transition from passive to active freedom. This allows each learner to freely imagine and engage in organic artistic creation. Furthermore, by providing diverse opportunities for learners to experience primal perception within their bodies, they will encounter a rich field of aesthetic experience.

* Whitehead argued that human life is essentially work and play, activity and sleep, and that the development of the mind as an organism living in the world is also based on a continuous structure for each individual, and that the development stages are explained with the concept of rhythm, and that education should be carried out according to this rhythm.

<Brainwriting: Family Stage>

 is a stage that promotes critical thinking. It encourages students to reflect on their surroundings and relationships with others, and to connect with the world around them through artistic creation. (Jang Julien)

As a step to foster creative thinking, students reflect on their surroundings and relationships with others, and engage with the world around them through artistic creation. Jang Julien uses everyday memories of himself, his family, the people around him, and culture as motifs in his work.

 We explore the artistic worlds of these artists and examine the relationship between cultural diversity. By organizing your thoughts on the subjects and phenomena you wish to express, you develop the ability to internalize aesthetic values through responding to aesthetic experiences.

Would you like to unleash your own free inspiration on the theme of the familiar everyday world?

<Romantic Stage: Visual Literacy>

This stage of understanding artistic creation involves presenting learners with images embedded in the artwork, stimulating their curiosity. To grasp the narrative contained within the artwork, learners engage in "imaginative experiences," actively utilizing their imagination based on their own experiences. By arranging images of various situations, students develop the perceptual skills and discernment to accurately understand them.

Learners will learn how to visualize the relationships and messages of images they have not yet explored, and will be able to express their active imagination by transforming the emotions triggered by objects in their consciousness in various ways.

Would you like to develop your understanding and empathy skills by inferring the meaning of images in context?

<Accuracy Stage: Recording Moments>

This stage of knowledge addition seeks to reveal the broad meaning and potential of artistic creation and refine expressive abilities. To cultivate harmonious relationships with oneself and others (family, friends, nature, objects, etc.), one must communicate and share emotions with emotional stability and an open mind.

Learners can experience transformative learning through experimental play that allows them to freely share their memories. By experimenting with various expressive materials, exploring media appropriate to the topic, and systematizing them, they can experience new possibilities for expression.

Would you like to freely create the inner world you want to express through this?

<Generalization Stage: I'm an Artist!>

This is a return to the Passion Stage, aiming to deepen creative thinking skills alongside systematic creative activities.
Learners explore abstract expressions like representation, imagination, and descriptive power, cultivating the ability to utilize materials appropriate to their thinking processes. This allows them to develop the ability to apply visual expression thinking to a variety of environments.

The final stage involves reflecting on internal motivations while appreciating the exhibited results, and experiencing self-reflection and self-efficacy through self-evaluation of creative activities.

Anything is fine! Let's freely express and appreciate whatever comes to mind.

*Classes will be held on October 7th with 'Hello Gyeongju' and October 14th with 'Children's Art School Exhibition'.

* Schedule and class content are subject to change.
